Call a Senator's office to request a meeting with an LA when you don't know the differences between Congress, Senate and House of Representatives are and have to have an intern to explain it to you, only to fail after 5 minutes of much needed civics lessons.

Glad I've Been Gone

So. I'm glad, for a list of long-winded reasons, to have been away for 4.5 months.

However, I have to mention something. The music.

OH.
GOD.
THE.
MUSIC.

I think Rihanna is hot shit. I didn't before; but she pulls off her five-fingered forehead off almost as good as Tyra (I mean that in the best way possible, I swear).

But I'm amazingly relieved that I've been able to escape "Umbrella." I know of it's existence purely through the internets (ONTD baby!) and Thomas sending me covers of that song. I know a lot of people love it, hence the covers, but from what I've heard - which is about the first 30 seconds multiple times - I hate it. Hate. Hate. Hate.

I kind of dread going back and facing this. Hopefully it will be completely dead by then *prays*. WHY DID YOU BREAK ON ME CAR CD PLAYER?!?!? =*(

Why, music of America, WHY?! >=O

On a different note. Today was a much-needed wakeup call to get that personality back in gear for the real world.
I really hate that personality though; it's not me =(

--AND--

Adding to the "OMG I MISS JAPAN"

I was dragged by my mom for afternoon tea with her friend, who in turn took us to visit her parents. I have learned the art of zoning out very well, but then they mentioned Japan to the grandma.

She started speaking Japanese to me and we conversed briefly.

Le sigh...withdraws...

Which is all okay...somewhat, because I still get my dosage of Japanese channels here. But I have been forced to watching Propose (I swear this Drama will become the epitome of my stay in Japan) - which I've really watched plenty of...

But NO WAYZ! There's a rumor going around that Wang Lee Hom is gay?! MARIA?!?!

Train of Thought

It's pouring in Taiwan now; thunderstorms and everything. I love it.

The last day in Japan wasn't even as bad, and it was the worst rain I encountered my whole stay there. I'd like to think that it was trying to keep me in Japan. That or crying because I was leaving =)

Ah Japan, I miss you =( I was seriously homesick for Japan when I touched down in Taiwan. Sad that I didn't feel the least bit homesick during my stay in Japan for America.

Japan was is amazing. We'll just leave it at that =)

Backtrack. It was pouring the last day when we went to cancel our health insurance and au phones. SADDEST THING EVER. I feel like no one would get this except for the UC kids because these phones are AWESOME and our connection to everyone in Japan =(
I love that phone so much and I basically lined it up after Diana and Jenna's and killed it. =( So I need to get myself another Japanese phone. Probably Docomo. I also like Softbank too. We'll see where life leads me.

I also walked home that day in the rain without an umbrella; that was fun =D

I still need to climb Mt. Fuji and visit the Tokyo Palace. I know everyone says it's boring, but I haven't even seen it yet folks. And I went to Tokyo...A LOT.

Miss Yokohama and Tokyo tons =(

So I was looking at Taipei's subway map and it isn't NEARLY as complicated as Japan's and my mom was trying to teach me how it works and worried that I would get lost -___- There's like...four lines here.

I've also been looking at bookstores a lot, and have bought three books within the last two weeks. Stupid Sam. I'm interested in two others as of now. But I think I'll look those up in America.

Ellen's wedding! I'm so excited! I bought a dress for it already (well...two). The store I went to had a 90% and 95% off sale and their designs were gorgeous =D I might take jie jie back ^.^ ...and I might buy more =X

Oh, what to do with my life...

Blackie has an ear infection =(

Mr. Edwin Inappropriate Crazy Insanse Stupid Choi welcomes you to Irvine.

ToxNews receives more angry emails from Woodbridge residents
Within the last few days, ToxNews received a spate of angry emails from Woodbridge residents who are angry about the contamination as are we who own homes in Woodbridge also. The bulk of the concern is about property values which is the same concern we have. One emailer, who claimed to be an attorney, said he felt the info on this site is a "charade". But for those of you who have already visited the nearby Heritage Park Library to verify the info presented on this site, you have already seen the info at the library matches what ToxNews has reported. For those who have yet to visit the library, please do so today. Be sure to go to the reference desk and ask for 'El Toro Test Results 21' binder and look at the facts, the maps, etc. because once you do, you will see for yourself how serious this matter is. We have also received more email reports of cancer.

My journal is lagging immensely from real-time, but I find myself extremely lazy and unwilling to dedicate five hours from my day cropping pictures and linking them. So until then, I leave ya'll with this:

Sayuri

Gah'dang, they make Zhang Zi Yi look gorgeous in this picture. It's for Memoirs of a Geisha, or Sayuri, as the movie is called. Yes, she's Sayuri; no, I'm not particularly happy about it; yes, this will blow her up even more.

I'm confused as to why they casted Chinese ladies for a Japanese story; I'm excited about Ken Watanabe though.

Click on the picture to go preview the movie

i am doing my homework right now for humcore and not very happy doing it. on top of that i have a whole bunch of other things on my mind. ladies, i know you all do this; multitasking can be a blessing or a bitch.

i wish that every college student, or at least every uci student could go through the sierra experience and see the world in a different and more accepting light. it becomes frustrating when i try to explain something to those who are closed off and discriminatory when there is no reason and logical meaning to do so.
andy was right when they said "they just don't understand."

well fuck.

also, i hate it when my astrology is dead-on accurate. not just for the day, week or month, but about my personality in general. i try to avoid it or not even think about it, but then i reevaluate a situation and find out just how right they are, shit.

and we'll leave it at that.
Silly Tiger
and while i'm trying to convince myself that that's the reason i'm staying up, it's really just because, once again, i have managed to screw with my sleeping habits.

i've also joined the club of "people who have their wisdom teeth taken out over spring break." it's fantastic. i went in to the dentist's office waited two hours and finally got to see doctor anthony. he is peachy keen. he, like his fellow co-doctor (erg?) graduated from UCLA and both wonder who the heck would have their mascot as an anteater. well i'm proud xP dr. anthony and i chit-chatted briefly and he expressed interest as to why i picked irvine over sd. my simple explanation has always been because irvine has better food. it's true, but it's not the full reason, more like "it's a long story, so i'll tell you something utterly ridiculous". he looked at me, smiled and said "isn't it funny how people choose schools?" i like him. well shoot, i better have, he was going to be digging in my mouth for 45 min.

all of which, i don't remember. i remember him sticking a needle in my arm and shooting something up my vein. he walked out and next thing i knew, i was in my mom's car. i really don't recall anything, only bits and pieces of the car ride back and my mom making an order for a chocolate milkshake from the in-n-out drive through box. the trippiest thing was that i got out of the car by myself, walked to the couch and finished my milk shake all by myself but i don't remember any of that. i remember spooning the shake into my mouth once and i dropped some on my sweater and the next thing i knew, i had devoured my shake. i learned this in psych, consciousness vs. motor skills.
PS. i love psych.

my birthday was wonderful, thank you to everyone who remembered and wished me well. i love my family who drove down to irvine to have dinner with me at CPK on that day; i love my sierrans who completely surprised me in my room with a poster, cake, dogpile, singing, smiles and hugs; i love jeff for getting me the perfect present (YAAAAAAAAAAAAO), making me lunch, taking me to watch "be cool", dinner over the hat's chili fries and sharing a 6" strawberry cheesecake from the cheesecake factory with me; and UCI for giving me a fantastic final at 8am on my birthday, i am sooooo happy to be at irvine!

yumi, matt and i made shirts. well, yumi mostly designed her AE skirt (which looks AWESOME. she's so creative; she made me a pillow in the shape of an "M" with lace and everything! she also got my a picture frame with our picture from brea while watching the ashlee concert in it and a cute but revealing top). we spent forever at michael's because we had a coupon that gave us 30% off starting from 6pm, so we spent almost 2 hours there. we got subway and the guy kept messing up on my order/pricing so i got $3 off! matt and i made "JERKY" shirts and he made another one with "you're weird" on it. me likes, i want to do that again.

i was poking around angeline's xanga through her facebook link and thought "wow, that girl is doing everything." i am quite jealous and hope that i'll be able to have that much fun when i'm out from college.

it's scary how intuitive our parents our. my mom noticed something was wrong with jesse when she didn't know what had happened and i barely noticed a change (when he was around people) and i knew!
parents are scary =(

and i should be getting to sleep now because it's 5am and i just took my medicine. goodnight/morning world.

oh great, here comes the birds chirping.

eddy amuses me =D

Journal 7: On Persuasive Writing

Back when I was a young child in the springtime of my youth, I would think that the most persuasive verbal effort would be punctuated with several resonant "pleases," drawn out for maximum effect. However, soon to my dismay, I found out that my process for convincing others was sorely inadequate as I did not get the prized toy that I saw sitting on the shelf. At that point, I realized that I had to construct a better approach to persuading others.

When I first entered Writing 39B, I had a fairly rudimentary sense of what a persuasive essay would sound like. After reading and analyzing Dr. Martin Luther King's speeches, I was exposed to a completely different level of persuasiveness. I was genuinely surprised by his heartfelt sincerity, powerful emotions, and stirring similes. However, I was more impressed with his ability to make me feel the emotions within his words than the emotions themselves. It's rare that a piece of text can do such things with one's emotions and heart, and it was at that point I understood what an impact King had on history, and the impact he still has during present times.

I am glad to have had the opportunity to digest King's delectable dish of a speech, since it has given me inspiration to further develop my persuasive writing abilities. I have evolved from a person using different types of "please" (which usually consisted of the same word with additional e's in it, i.e. "pleeeeease") to supplementing my claims with solid, empirical evidence, coercing the audience to agree with my views with stirring pathos and indisputable ethos, and using rhetoric effectively in order to elicit certain responses from the audience. Hopefully, when I need to purchase the latest Robotic Warrior set at Toys 'R' Us, I am able to coerce my parents to buy it for me due to its ability to keep me from smoking weed, its economical benefits to Malaysian factory workers, and its intrinsic aesthetic and entertainment value.

Yao & Shaq

DENVER, Feb. 19 -- Miami Heat center Shaquille O'Neal said Saturday that he uses trash-talk to gain a psychological edge over the league's other big men. But there is one player O'Neal doesn't badger: the Houston Rockets' Yao Ming, who is from China.

"I found out that he was a respectful young man," O'Neal said before he and the other members of the Eastern Conference all-star team began practice. "I realized that Asian people are different than us Americans. . . . The Asian people have always been about honor and respect, so I respect and honor him."

Miami center Shaquille O'Neal no longer badgers fellow all-star and Houston center Yao Ming: "The Asian people have always been about honor and respect, so I respect and honor him," O'Neal said. (Lucy Nicholson -- Reuters)

O'Neal and Yao go head-to-head in Sunday's NBA All-Star Game. Two years ago, when O'Neal was still with the Lakers, he ignited a firestorm of protest for making what many Asian groups considered racist comments during an interview.

"Tell Yao Ming, 'Ching-chong-yang-wah-ah-soh,' " O'Neal told an interviewer in the summer of 2002.

O'Neal apologized and called himself an "idiot prankster." Nonetheless, he continued to slam Yao's game in the media. Last season, O'Neal often said that he was the only dominating center in the Western Conference, an apparent slight of the 7-foot-6 Yao.

What changed O'Neal's attitude?

In an interview last November with The Washington Post, O'Neal said: "One day my father came to Houston before a game we were supposed to play against the Rockets and he said, 'Cut that stuff out.' I said, 'What?' My father said, 'You talkin' all that mess to that man. Do you know that man sent you a Christmas card?'

"He handed me the Christmas card. It said, 'Shaq, you're my favorite big man. I want to be like you in a couple of years. I love you.' And after that, I'm like . . . I'm acting like an [expletive] to this dude, trying to break him, trying to punk him before I play him, but it didn't work. You got to respect a man you can't break."

Silly Tiger
but apparently it didn't get saved, so i'm going to repeat everything the best i can, mainly as a reminder for me.

so yesterday. i spent 6 hours pinning stuff onto my wall because i finally went to staples to buy the push-pins and thumbtacks and now my thumb is bleeding. of those 6 hours, 1.5 of them was spent trying to dig out my calendar that fell behind my bed. i was about to give up after those 1.5 hours and then i realized that my anger was strong enough to move my bed.

i hope the pins don't fall on me when i sleep, that would suck ovaries.

i took 1 hour off to play MS with jeff. i love how we communicate non-verbally with each other through our characters =)

i realized how much i take him for granted. i was such a prick gf during his first year of college and he refuses to do the same to me. i have no idea how to make it up to him. we've fought, broken up and now we're happy again. well, at least i am. he better be or else he isn't getting his birthday present xP

speaking of which, we celebrated his birthday two weeks early over the weekend. he came at 1:30 pm and i made him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with water. i gave him water to drink because apparently vons and rite aid are nazi (or communist) and refuse to sell alta dena milk, the best milk next to adohr farms and taiwan milk. also, the milk we had in the fridge was expired.
we watched hitch after lunch. can you believe JEFF actually ASKED ME to go watch a romantic comedy? the last romantic comedy he saw was legally blonde two, and that was with his guy friends! hitch is a cute movie, we likes.
he took me home really quick to put my laundry in the drier and then we went to curry house. after curry house, we made a stop at RJ patisserie and i bought him a small birthday cake. we took it to his house and i lit a candle and he made a wish!

i suppose i could have planned something better for his birthday but i know the jerk (^.^) wouldn't have liked it if i drove and i don't like wasting other people's gas. plus there was meaning behind PB&J and curry house. I loved saturday for all the little reasons that an account of my day would miss.

i was experiencing menstruation...or maybe ovulation, but then again it was last week so it was probably premenstrual, mood swings and i became very sentimental. life is so perfect right now. sure there are little kinks here and there, but overall, it couldn't be better. everyone that i love and care about is alive and healthy (except grandma, but she doesn't act like it) and home is still in hacienda heights. i wish time could freeze right now so i could live in this moment.

that was pretty much what i wrote yesterday. i had more about a boy trying to convert me to christianity online, but i'm over it and it's not worth my time.

plus i worked out today and am running on two hours of sleep so i am tired. i think i will sleep early tonight.

goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.
